Registration is open for the February 20th rallycross at Adrian. We will be using the infield as part of the course, again. Hoping for snow and ice!!!

I am thinking about doing this event. It will be my first event with SCCA and my first Rally Cross. I have a 2WD Mazda. I do have Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires. Will I be fine traction wise and not getting stuck or do you guys recommend a 4WD car only for the snow events. Also, can i register for the event without being a SCCA member. I would like to try a event to see if its something im interested in before paying the 60+ to SCCA membership. Thanks for the help!

Some answers for your questions:

The location of the next event is a dirt horse track and may not have alot of snow on it. But if it does, the AWD vehicles are usually sent out as a group first so that the track gets cleaned off. This makes for a nicely carved track that usually turns [very] icy later in the day.

2WD works pretty well in all conditions. FWD > RWD for winter events, but there are different classes to account for this difference. Decent snow tires certainly help. All season tires do occasionally make for people getting stuck.

You do not need to be a member to register. However, you will be charged an additional $15 for a "temporary membership" for this event. If you do decide to become a member, I believe that the $15 can be applied towards the cost of your membership (someone correct me here if I'm wrong).

In any case, online signup is available here:

Matt you should be fine traction wise.  As a RWD Mazda rallycrosser it is all good and much more fun than those AWD dudes that need little skill to get around the courseicon_jokercolor.gif

Are you kidding me?  I need AWD and GPS to make it around the course.

Does anyone have any suggestions (good or bad) on running SUV's in the RallyX? I seem to remember catching a video somewhere of someone running a GMC Envoy or TrailBlazer at one of the events. I'm driving a AWD WJ (Jeep G. Cherokee) and was wondering if it would be worth the 3hr trip to Adrian to compete?

SUV are fun to watch (and can do quite well). Please bring yours.

I promise you it will be worth the 3hr drive. If at the end of the day you dont think it is, you can kick my car.

Just a note that lifted trucks and SUV's are not allowed to compete. So, hopefully yours is stock height, and you can come out and tear up some dirt!!

I hope the Rx7 will make it but I dunno if it will be broken and assembled by then. I will be in the Audi this time again.

Awesome....I'll be headin' down for sure. Everything should be good, I'm still running the stock set up, so if anything it might be settled down a little bit lower than stock. I'm really hoping for snowy conditions!!!!

Eastern states rally championship in May at Adrian.....just try to take the Challenger down.....

Bob challenged me to bring the Challenger back out in May to try to win again, just hoping Ross MacGuire doesn't learn how to not hit cones....
